About the matting: Matting on Janet's prints and originals is high quality hand-cut matting. Everything is assembled by hand. Mats are acid-free conservation/archival rag mats, and backing is acid-free conservation/archival rag. Prints are hinged to allow for environmental changes. With our matting, no acidic wood fiber makes contact with your prints. This may be seem to be more expensive than other methods, but in the long run you really do get what you pay for--it's the right thing to do for a print of value. You see, our Heart of Michigan Bernese Mountain Dog Club surprised my husband John with Janet's portrait of Ruby (our first Berner) in thanks for work he did on behalf of our organization, and we were both blown away by it! A Very Special Pleader - Matted Print with engraved brass plate.
Premium Bronze Suede over Grass Green - A color that is difficult to describe... It's
not
exactly green and not exactly brown. Click on the tiny picture to
see the mat color better. Since this premium top mat has a suede finish,
the colors play back and forth between the two; bronze truly is the
best word to describe it. By using a grass green inner rag mat, Janet
has brought attention to the green velvet chair in the piano room and
the green in the wool rug at the dog's feet. The light celadon green
wallpaper ties the whole painting together. This matting combination
simply exudes richness! Includes engraved brass title plate. This

The original watercolor Bernese painting used to make these prints was commissioned as a trophy for a BMDCA national specialty in Oconomowoc in 1990, by the Bernese Mountain Dog Club of America. Janet painted several original watercolors for the top trophies at the show - Best in Show, Best of Opposite Sex, Best of Winners, Winners Bitch, Winners Dog, High in Trial, Puppy Sweepstakes.
